About me
Giovanna Mercurio is an emerging artist based in New York City, recognized for her warm, expressive tone and vivid musicality. As a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (B.M. 2025), her work is marked by a deep connection to the culture, history, and emotional depth of opera—an art form she approaches with both reverence and imagination. Known for her compelling stage presence and nuanced interpretation, she brings authenticity and elegance to each role she inhabits.
She made her Italian operatic debut at 17 and has since performed in a number of mainstage productions throughout Italy. In summer 2024, she appeared as Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi in Lucca, Italy. Most recently, she was featured as Lady Psyche in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Princess Ida at the Manhattan School of Music. She is currently role-studying Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.
At 14, Giovanna was accepted into the Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Voice Program, as the youngest voice student accepted that year. She began her conservatory studies at the Manhattan School of Music at age 17, where she has since flourished as a performer and collaborator.She will continue her training at the Manhattan School of Music as a masters student, class of 2027.
With a passion for storytelling through music, Giovanna continues to explore a wide range of repertoire with confidence, curiosity, and a commitment to artistic integrity. She remains devoted to the creative spirit, drama, and beauty that define opera at its finest.
